The One Who's Not the One, a little book review #AD - gifted

It's no secret that I absolutely adore Keris Stainton so imagine my joy when I was accepted to read her next book early thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review!
The One Who's Not the One was an absolute delight from beginning to end!

*Disclaimer I adore Keris with my whole heart so expect this review to be very biased*

Title: The One Who's Not the One
Author: Keris Stainton
Publication Day: 26th February
☆ Rating: ★★★★★
Cat’s life has hit a brick wall. Since she broke up with her ex Sam five years ago she’s quit stand-up comedy, landed in a steady but dull job, and lives in a tiny flat with roommates she knows only as The One Who Eats All My Food and The One Who Has Really Loud Sex.

★★★★★

I really struggle to relate to the characters in adult books, they're a lot older than me with kids and two or three divorces tucked under their belts. But Keris constantly has adult characters that I can actually understand and relate to!
I'm always like, okay I wanna be their friend and Cat was no different!

Keris writes the kind of books that you want to read over and over again, they're safe and warm and they feel just like coming home. It's just like one big warm hug!

(is it a post about Keris if it doesn't
 involve Harry though?)
Speaking of characters that you just want to be friends with, I absolutely adored the friendship between Cat and her best friend Kelly, I even messaged her after I'd finished reading to say how I just want to sit and drink wine with the two of them. Some of the best characters are obviously the ones you want to hang out with in real life with wine and gossip right?

A lot of the moments throughout The One Who's Not the One that I feel like a lot of us go through which is comparing ourselves to our friends and peers. The whole "my friends are doing so much better at life than me" kind of thing which whew is very relatable and I loved that Keris delved into this real thought process a lot of us have!

Very realistic life issues were constantly
scattered throughout - the price of living especially in London, relationships, and just general life stuff that tends to get glossed over in fiction. It all came together to make the book feel so very real and made me love it even more!

If you didn't already know I'm a sucker for a good slow burn romance which is why I absolutely adore Maggie Harcourt's books, seriously she's the queen of good slow burns!
But wow, Keris did not disappoint with the Cat and Harvey. I loved the whole will they, won't they aspect that they had going on and I remember messaging Keris when I was only a few pages in to tell her that I already loved Harvey. Ugh Harvey, what a soft space nerd! I love him!

The One Who's Not the One is like a rom-com in a book, the perfect thing for a drizzly February!

Thank you again to NetGalley and Bookouture and of course to Keris for always writing such wonderful books that I can never resist!
