#109 The books are taking over

So on Sunday, I headed to Manchester for my first (proper) blogger event at  Waterstones Deansgate! I call it my first proper event because although I have been invited to events as a blogger, however, this event was specifically for bloggers to allow us to interact and get to know other northern bloggers!

The event was a networking event in collaboration with HarperCollins (I KNOW!) and as first blog events go it was definitely a success (thank you again to Kimi and Fiona for organising it all, what a couple of heroes they are)

I got to meet some new bloggers but also Annalise from AnnaliseBooks!
As well as getting the chance to meet other bloggers we also had free reign over a whole selection of free books, both new and old - I've never seen a group of people run so fast!

As well as the selection of all those free books we also received a goodie bag filled with postcards, bookmarks, badges and a proof of Editing Emma: The Secret Blog of a Nearly Proper Person by Chloe Seager which is out on the 10th August!

Another proof I picked up was Soot by Andrew Martin, the book is set in York in 1799 and follows the death of an artist. Although I picked up a proof, the book was released earlier this month!

The next book has actually been out since 2011 but if I'm correct this edition is new! Artichoke Hearts by Sita Brahmachari follows 12 year Mira as she uncovers some family secrets! I don't know how much I'll enjoy it being nearly 10 years older than Mira (nope, no thanks)

I mostly picked this one up for how gorgeous yet simplistic the cover is! Underwater by Marisa Reichardt has actually been out since April but I'm excited to read this book all about tragedy and learning to forgive!

I've been umming and ahhing about picking up Dumplin' by Julie Murphy for the longest time so I couldn't resist picking up a free copy! I've heard lots of good things about this book so as always I'm excited to delve in and find out what I think!

The last free book I picked up was Liberty: The Spy Who (kind of) Liked Me by Andrea Porter, this was mostly because of the cover (it's just so cute!) but also Jonna (enchantedlilme) telling me it seemed like my kind of thing and I get where she's coming from! I'm also getting some serious Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter vibes!

Because I'm  a total book hoarder and can't control myself in Waterstones I ended up buying two books I've been excited to read!

The first is Freshers by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison which I've been wanting to read for the longest time! Set in freshers week the book Pheobe and Luke, I started this yesterday and I'm loving it so far!

*Deep breath* And finally....the last book I bought was Because you Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainywhich is a collection of short stories created by authors such as Marissa Meyer, Victoria Schwab, Nicola Yoon as well as a group of booktubers! The stories revolve around villains and I think it's so cool how they have included booktubers and allowed them to get their work out there in the publishing world! I love collections like this because it's so easy to dip in and out of!

Congrats if you managed to sit through this super long blog post! Let me know if you if you've read any of these books or if you're planning on picking any up!
