#94 A student lock-in haul part 2

You may remember back in October I attended a student lock-in at my local Waterstones (x), so when I heard they were holding another one I jumped at the chance!
I spent SO long umming and ahhing about loads of books before I finally decided which I definitely wanted (okay I'm kinda regretting picking up two of the books I saw)

Lion - Saroo Brierly (previously published as A Long Way Home: A Memoir)
I'm dying to see the film adaption of this book and seeing it won a BAFTA for Best Adapted Screenplay I'm even more excited for both the book and film!
Lion tells the real story of Saroo who was separated from his parents in India aged five and ended up in Australia for 25 years.
I think I'll be starting this book as soon as possible!

Ink - Alice Broadway
I've seen a little bit of hype about this absolutely stunning book (photos just don't do it justice) and I  was so intrigued by the story - all about how your every action is marked onto your skin!
I'm excited to get started with this one has it seems right up my street!

When everything feels like the movies - Raziel Reid
I was definitely drawn towards this book because of the cover, there's just something just so simple and eye-catching about it!
Based on a true story, I've seen mixed reviews and I've got a feeling that it's one of the books you're not really meant to enjoy just like Louise O'Neill's Only Ever Yours.

The Color Purple - Alice Walker
I don't know much about The Color Purple except for that the Broadway adaption just won a Grammy.
Set in the deep south America, it tells the story of Celie, just by reading the blurb I can tell this story is probably going to be a bit of an emotional rollercoaster!

I also picked up one last book for my sister (which I didn't manage to photograph)
It's basically a picture book that tells the story of Amelia Earheart, we've read this quite a few times and each time she's loved and has decided she also wants to fly a plane, so I'll take that as a success!

Have you been any books recently?

  1. I love the sound of all of them and that probably isn't great because I may end up buying all of them, considering the hoarder I am for books! This was a great post, thanks for introducing me to these great books. :)
