#88 A waterstones haul

Despite the shelves of unread books in my room I can never seem to leave Waterstones empty handed (sorry student loan)

The first book I picked up was Maresi by Maria Turtschaninoff.
I'm gonna be honest, and admit the main reason I picked this up was because Lucy (LucyTheReader) is quoted on the front (proud friend moment!)
However, once I read the blurb I was so intrigued - it sounds like it's going to be full of mystery and suspense and as Lucy said 'a tale of sisterhood, survival and fighting against the odds'

I also picked up A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard, so many of my favourite authors and book bloggers have been raving about this book so I was obviously very intrigued and couldn't resist the pink and gold cover!
I've had a little flick through the book and I love how it has inserts of text messages and handwritten notes, there's something about that extra bit of detail that I just love!

(pictures really don't do this beauty of a book any justice!)

Finally, I picked up Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai in Gilmore Girls.
This year I really want to read more non-fiction and autobiographies after reading Girl Up by Laura Bates and Where Am I Now by Mara Wilson last year, so I feel like this book is the perfect way to get back into reading autobiographies!

Let me know what books you've been buying recently!

  1. Saw the tweet for this on Teacup Club and you had me drawn in at Waterstones haul - I do so love that shop!
A Quiet Kind of Thunder sounds like such an interesting (and pretty) book, and I definitely need to read more non-fiction *for fun* this year (for uni I read lots of non-fiction but there's something so different about reading it for enjoyment rather than for my degree!)

  2. I used to work in Waterstones and the amount of books I took home was ridiculous- I understand the struggle! I love books that have little notes and texts in them- it seems to bring the characters more to life somehow! I've seen Lauren Graham's book everywhere recently- I haven't read any non-fiction in forever. I really want to read Mara Wilson's Where Am I now though!

  4. I almost forgot that Lauren Graham wrote a book. I should probably go to goodreads and add it to my to-read list. I love autobiographies but don't read them as much as I'd like.
I haven't bought any books recently as my sister does all the shopping for the both of us)) And it's always a mixture of Ukrainian modern lit, non-fiction and contemporary translated literature (which I rarely see talked about in book blogs). I've got here Lauren Groff's Fates and Furies. Have you heard about it?

  6. I can never go into Waterstones because I never walk out empty-handed haha! I've heard fab things about 'Talking Fast and Slow', so I'll be interested to read your review of it when you get round to reading it! Recently I've been mostly shopping in charity shops for books because you never know what you'll find! Thanks for sharing!
