#69 The Last Beginning review

Hello lovelies, I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of The Last Begining by Lauren James and I still can't quite believe it! I've been so excited to write this post so let's go!

*disclaimer I was sent this book for free but have not been paid to write about it*

The Last Begining is the sequel to The Next Together which is my favourite book (well one of but y'know)
If you're a regular friend or have been inside Waterstones with me you'll know how much I love this book and I even wrote a post about it back in June (x)

Clove is determined to find Katherine and Matthew (the protagonists of The Next Together and the novella Another Together)
with the help of a time machine and her AI Spart.

I honestly love Clove so much! She's the perfect amount of incredibly smart and super awkward!

I think my favourite thing about the sequel was the really clever and sometimes subtle links to the first book and also how a lot of things that happened in the first book were then explained in the sequel which I thought was such a great touch!

Character wise we were only introduced to a couple of new characters and my favourites were definitely Clove and Ella who are honestly just the cutest! I'm so happy about the rise of representation in YA and Lauren did not disappoint!

Just like in the first novel news article and websites were seamlessly incorporated throughout and The Lat Beginning also featured chat logs, facebook posts and even a couple of snapchats which I absolutely loved! It adds such a unique twist to the novel!

I love how The Last Beginning features various science-fiction sub-genres such as cross-genre,slipstream (dealing with "mainstream" themes)and time travel (plus loads more but I don't wanna bore you with the technical terms - creative writing student problems!
There is also a focus on romance combined within all these sub-genres making it incredibly enjoyable for everyone!
Whenever I'm asked why I love Lauren's books so much I simply say it's got time travel and romance but not in the way you'd expect!

The Last Beginning is available to purchase in the UK from the 6th October! Go buy it!
