#63 What's A Girl Gotta Do?

Hello, lovelies I've been reading so much lately (like enough to do my first ever monthly reading wrap up!) and I'm honestly loving getting back into reading - my bank account not so much!

What's A Girl Gotta Do by Holly Bourne was the first book I read this month (okay so technically I started it at the end of July but ssh) and I'm so obsessed with it to the point where I can't stop thinking about it!

The book is all about Lottie - A level student wanting to get into Cambridge, feminist and overall amazing character! Lottie starts a project in which her goal is to call out every piece of sexism she sees with a novelty clown horn in hand (and some cream pies)! I think this is one of the first YA novels I read where feminism was such a centre point and I loved that - it's so important!
Throughout the book, there was also typical YA themes of friendship and crushes but it wasn't overdone or cringey like it is in some YA novels - which is always a bonus for me!

However, I found out halfway through  reading that What's A Girl Gotta Do is actually the final instalment in The Spinster Club trilogy - oops! Despite this I still found the book so easy to get into - so much so that I couldn't put it down!

I've just finished How Hard Can Love Be, the second book in The Spinster Club trilogy and the first book Am I Normal Yet arrived yesterday!

Yes, I have accidentally ended up reading this trilogy backwards but I'm just gonna roll with it!

Overall What's A Girl Gotta Do is all about

What have you been reading this month?

    1. Ah thank you Jumana! Normally I'd hate reading a series backwards but because some of the books can be stand alone books it's been pretty easy!

  2. I've made the mistake of reading books before and then realising their part of a series, oops! I've not heard of this book before but I may have to give it a read x

  3. HAH! I've made that mistake with trilogies so many times! They should def make it clearer on the front cover!! Or big numbers on the spine for dafties like us. So interesting to hear of some young adult fiction which features feminism so prominently, the future is going to be bright if this kind of thing starts happening more often! Lovely review, will have to check out this book. Thanks for sharing x Jess

  5. I've been reading like crazy this month, I finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower (I cried at the end), Really Professional Internet Person, and I'm about to finish #GIRLBOSS. It's got me feeling so inspired to keep reading! This book looks really interesting, it's great to see feminism being an important theme in a YA book!

  6. I really love the sound of the last book in the series, Lottie does indeed sound like a fantastic character! 💪🏼 I've been reading about feminism lately too, I'm about to finish Roxane Gay's "Bad Feminist" which I've really enjoyed! It's a big book of essays all about feminism, race, and social justice and it's super interesting and well written! 💖

  7. I've realised I have a tradition of starting a book series and never ending up reading the last book! I love reading but haven't had the time to and the more I read book reviews, the more books are being added and I might cry hahaha
