#66 August reading wrap up

Hello lovelies, as I mentioned in my last #BookBlogger post I've been reading so much this past month that I'm able to write my first ever reading wrap up - how exciting!

What's A Girl Gotta Do? Holly Bourne - ★★★★★
The first book was featured in my last #BookBlogger post was Holly Bourne's What's A Girl Gotta Do? and I still can't stop raving about it - catch up on the post here!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Jack Thorne - ★★★☆☆ (and a half)The next book I read was the slightly controversial Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Emily and I went to our local Waterstones for the midnight release which was so fun! I started to read this book, well script, on the 3rd August and I'd finished it just 2 days later!
Although I loved this (anything Harry Potter is most likely a winner in my eyes) I do think there was a lot of plot holes and some characters (especially Harry, Ron and mostly Hermione) were out of character but overall I enjoyed it but the play most likely translates better on stage!
My friend Hannah did a really good review on the female characters in Cursed Child and I 100% agree with what she has to say and I highly recommend you read it here (after you've read it though because there's a lot of spoilers!)

How Hard Can Love Be? Holly Bourne - ★★★★★
Next up was How Hard Can Love Be? the second book in Holly Bourne's Spinster Club series, this book was all from Amber's point of view and was set during her time working at an American summer camp! I loved the character of Amber and I couldn't help but fall in love with Amber's love interest Kyle!























Am I Normal Yet? Holly Bourne ★★★★☆
As soon as I finished HHCLB I ordered the first book in the trilogy Am I Normal Yet? from amazon and it arrived 2 days later!
This book took me a little longer to read simply because I had no time to read during SITC but I finished it on the train on the way home! 
This book is all about Evie who suffers OCD and it was a very real story about mental health and unlike other YA novels it wasn't romanticised at all which I thought was so good (however I'd be careful reading this if you're triggered by tendencies of MH)

Finding Audrey Sophia Kinsella - ★★★☆☆ (and a half)
I also read Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella - the author of the Shopaholic series which I love! Although I enjoyed this one I felt like it's aimed more towards a younger teenage audience rather than YA but it covers mental health in teenagers something that is so important and needs to be disccused more in general not just in YA!

Radio Silence Alice Oseman - ★★★★★
The next book I read was Radio Silence by Alice Oseman and honestly, I was hooked from the first page!
Although it's very different to other YA books I think that's what made me love it! I think one of my favourites things was the representation of Frances and Aled's platonic relationship, I don't think I can name many YA books where the two main male and female characters don't end up in a relationship!

I also adored the representation of both POC and LQBTQIA characters in the book, Frances is mixed race and bisexual, there are gay characters and characters that are confused about their sexuality which is SO important in YA!

I can't fit all my thoughts on this book into just a reading wrap up so look out for a full post sometime soon!

I'm currently reading Only Ever Yours by Louise O'Neill and I'm about halfway through and I don't really know how I feel about this book, it's a terrifying dystopian novel where girls are like created for men and are kind of like Barbie dolls. They're conditioned to think a certain way and taught that 'fat' is ugly and "obese people are obsolete" and are basically (after school) are just there for men's enjoyment and to only give birth to sons. I don't know if I'm enjoying this book or not, it's a very difficult book to read in terms of theme but that's the point I think. It's definitely the scariest dystopian novel I've ever read!
